The New Year is right around the corner. While this is very exciting, it’s also scary. The price of groceries just keeps going up. Unfortunately, the amount of money we get paid doesn’t keep going up.

Groceries are an essential part of life. Everyone needs them to survive, it’s not like you can just stop buying them. There are many ways to save on food and other groceries in 2019, here are several tips!

1). Always have a budget

The number one way to save on groceries in 2019 is to have a budget. A budget will help you know how much you have to spend every week, so you don’t overspend.

2). Cook from your shelf

Your probably have a lot of food on your pantry shelf that you don’t know what to do with. You can save on groceries in 2019 by cooking from your shelves. Cook what you have on hand, instead of going out to get new stuff.

3). Get to know one store

While it’s nice to hop and shop around, there is something to be said about shopping at one store. When you shop at one store, you’re able to get to know prices, brands, and where the deals are.

4). Shop markdowns

Don’t stick your nose up when you see groceries that have been marked down. No grocery store is going to sell you groceries that are no good. Shopping the markdowns allows you to save money in more ways than you can imagine.

5). Only use cash when you’re buying groceries

When you have your debit card in hand, it’s easy to spend whatever your heart desires. When you use cash, you can only spend what you have. Right?

6). Plan your meals in 2019

When you plan your meals, you save so much money. I know you’ve told yourself that you would meal plan before, but make 2019 your year.

7). Say no to meat

While you don’t have to go vegan, it does help to not serve meat in your meals one night a week. Meat can get costly, especially if you are serving it every night.

Not using meat in every meal can save you anywhere from $5-$10 per meal. I don’t know about you but that’s a savings worth working towards.
